Based in Johannesburg, EMB South Africa opened for business in January 2006.

It is a time of change in Africa's largest and most sophisticated insurance market, with increased competition demanding a different, more technical approach to pricing and strategy.  Above all, a system of risk-based solvency regulation is set to fundamentally alter the rules of the game.

EMB South Africa is well placed to help clients thrive in this new environment.  Lisa Pines and Andre Cloete combine many years' actuarial experience with knowledge of the national market.  Their consultancy services include rating, price optimisation, reserving and financial modelling.

According to Lisa, insurers have been quick to grasp the value of products such as EMBLEM, Classifier and ResQ, as well as EMB's overall expertise in these areas.  There is also significant interest in Igloo Professional.

Johannesburg is an insurance and reinsurance hub.  The vast majority of the country's general insurers and reinsurers are located in this city.
